निर्वाचन आयोग के क्षेत्रीय अधिकारियों ने बिहार में मतदाता सूची के जारी के गहन पुनरीक्षण अभियान के तहत घर-घर जाकर जांच की और इस दौरान बड़ी संख्या में नेपाल, बांग्लादेश और म्यांमार के लोग मिले हैं।
रिपोर्ट का हवाला देते हुए, निर्वाचन आयोग के अधिकारियों ने बताया कि घर-घर जाकर की गई जांच के दौरान बूथ स्तर के अधिकारियों को बड़ी संख्या में नेपाल, बांग्लादेश और म्यांमार के लोग मिले हैं।
कई मीडिया खबरों में दावा किया गया है कि सत्यापन में लगे बीएलओ से जो जानकारी मिल रही है, उसमें राज्य में रह रहे इन विदेशी नागरिकों में से ज्यादातर ने गलत तरीके से आधार कार्ड, राशन कार्ड व मूल निवासी प्रमाण पत्र जैसे दस्तावेज भी हासिल कर लिए हैं।
अधिकारियों के अनुसार, 1 अगस्त से 30 अगस्त के बीच इनकी घर-घर जाकर जांच की जाएगी। यदि इनके दस्तावेज गलत पाए गए तो 30 सितंबर को प्रकाशित होने वाली अंतिम मतदाता सूची से इनके नाम हटा दिए जाएंगे।
सत्यापन को लेकर जारी निर्देशों के तहत 2003 के बाद जिन लोगों के नाम मतदाता सूची में जुडे हैं, उन सभी मतदाताओं को अपने दस्तावेज 30 अगस्त तक जमा कराने है। राज्य में मतदाता सूची के सघन सत्यापन मुहिम के बीच 84 प्रतिशत से अधिक मतदाताओं के गणना फार्म जमा हो चुके है।
निर्वाचन आयोग अंततः पूरे भारत में मतदाता सूचियों का एक विशेष गहन पुनरीक्षण करेगा ताकि विदेशी अवैध प्रवासियों के जन्मस्थान की जांच करके उन्हें बाहर निकाला जा सके। बिहार में इसी साल चुनाव होने वाले हैं, जबकि अन्य पांच राज्यों असम, केरल, पुडुचेरी, तमिलनाडु और पश्चिम बंगाल में 2026 में विधानसभा चुनाव होने हैं।
हाल में विभिन्न राज्यों में बांग्लादेश और म्यांमार सहित अवैध विदेशी प्रवासियों के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई के बाद यह कदम खास महत्व रखता है।
